A ghost story for Christmas from UP (available for one more week on Rimki’s Big Cartel).

FANzine Live posted a Reel Short review of UP, calling it a "fantastic little minicomic, highly recommended"! This is the first endorsement of UP from a native Michigander, so it's especially nice to hear.
And speaking of Michiganders, I met up with fellow Ann Arborite Audrey Jarrett of Crablegs Comics yesterday to exchange zines and chat comics. Message or comment on their Instagram to get a copy of their new zine Energetic and Futch: Bike Messenger Comics 3. I enjoyed reading Audrey's vibrantly rendered observations of the pleasures and tribulations of navigating the uneven social strata of the University of Michigan campus as a bike messenger. They also have a zine-related advent calendar available, which you can learn more about on their Instagram.

UP and Nib Rot will soon be available at Gosh! Comics in London!
Also: The remaining stock of UP is running low. It won’t be reprinted, and after Dec 31 it won't be available through Rimki’s Big Cartel. I have a few copies set aside for future shows, but otherwise Gosh! Comics will be the only place to get it in 2026. Order soon if you want to get one!

RJ Casey at The Comics Journal reviewed Nib Rot n.1, focusing on the contributions of Paul Nudd ("Nudd’s work is like if the Chicago Imagists decided their chosen medium was going to be cat puke and hirsute scrotums.") and Ryan Edge. ("Edge lets the story breathe, sometimes telling the joke with his writing and other times with his thin-line scrawly cartooning and Twain caricatures.") Another good review!

UP received a good review from Comics Blogger over on Patreon! A few highlights: "Dense markmaking throughout gives the whole comic nice texture. ... A tourist plaque imbued with life and strong visuals. This is a well crafted autobio trip of a comic." Go check out today's reviews, and also pick up a copy of the new Comics Blogger n.14, which includes a publisher spotlight on Detroit's Diskette Press and a review of Nib Rot n.1!

A ghost story for Halloween, from UP.

2025-Oct-14
I have zero memory of this, but apparently when I was 22 I was interviewed about comics by Burlington, Vermont's weekly paper Seven Days. Kerrie was my indie comics supplier at the Crow Bookshop, so it was probably through her that they got in touch with me. Very bizarre to see my younger self quoted in print, but I'm happy to remain an "enthusiast." Also, what an opening line!

I had a great time at A2CAF-SIP on Saturday, and even managed to sell a few copies of the freshly printed UP minicomic and a couple Nib Rots. Highlights of the show included chatting with tableneighbor Nicholas Offerman and picking up a small stack of his comics, handing out copies of UP to some of my favorite cartoonists who were at the show, and drawing a secret stamp for some very kind patrons. Big thanks to Anna for her invaluable support.

I'll be behind the Nib Rot table at Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival – Small + Indie Press at the Downtown Library on Saturday, October 11, 11am–5pm. In addition to UP and Nib Rot n.1, I'll have copies of Rimki's Land of the Dead, Nib Rot stickers, and a few other surprises. Stop by and say hi!
